Myogetsu-bo Studio

Set in an earl Meiji era garden, Myogetsu-Bo Studio is part of Nichizoin Temple, a Tendai Buddhist temple.  It is the “heart” of EcoNikko.

Here we offer weekly yoga classes, meditation, satsang and host visiting teachers and students.  The studio space has been lovingly converted and updated to accommodate up to 30 students.

Hidden behind antique Japanese screens are a wide array of yoga props including blocks, belts, blankets and bolsters for each student, enabling a positive experience in every kind of yoga practice.

The restored living areas are now a beautiful changing area with storage space for personal articles.  The gardens surrounding the studio provide meditation areas as well as chanting space.

Myogetsu-Bo Studio is within the grounds of Rinnoji Temple, in Nikko Japan.  The gardens are part of the Nikko UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Getting to Myogetsu-bo Studio:

If coming by public bus:

Take the bus to the Shinkyo bus stop. Cross the street and go up the steps with the stone sign announcing the Nikko World Heritage site. After about 10 meters, the stairway will split - go to the right. At the top of the stairs is a road going uphill. Follow the road for another 10 meters. On your left you will see a low wooden gate. This is the gate to Myogetsu-bo Studio. Please come in.

※ If you are taking a taxi to the Shinkyo please follow the same directions as above.

Taking a taxi to the Sannai area:

Take the taxi up to the Shinkyo and turn right. Go uphill until the road forks. Take the turn to the left. Follow the road uphill and turn left at the first intersection. Go downhill about 100 meters. Myogetsu-bo Studio is the last building on your right just before the road ends.
